Our Story
It all started with a passion for unique home goods and a vision for affordable luxury. We wanted to make spaces that felt collected over time, with layers of diverse textures, patterns, colors and materials. Our goal was to create a line of home decor and furnishings that captured the spirit of far-flung locales mixed with familiar comforts.
In 2016, we launched Opalhouse to bring our bohemian dream to life. Since then, we’ve continued to push boundaries by partnering with artisans and designers around the world. From Istanbul to Jaipur, our creations take cues from traditional techniques and materials but give them a modern twist. We’re constantly experimenting with new styles, while staying true to our core values of inclusivity, sustainability, and joyful self-expression.

Many of our products support artisans in developing communities who rely on fair trade partnerships. From basketweave throw pillows handwoven in India using traditional techniques to decorative glassware that provides jobs to artisans in Nicaragua, we’re dedicated to uplifting makers worldwide.
We also aim to reduce our environmental footprint through mindful product development and packaging decisions. Our in-house design team actively seeks out recycled, natural, and responsibly sourced materials, from FSC certified wood, to OEKO-TEX certified cotton textiles, to recyclable packaging materials. We’re proud that over 50% of our Opallhouse wood products are crafted from FSC certified materials.
Beyond our products, we partner with organizations worldwide to amplify our positive impact. We work with Nomi Network, a non-profit that creates economic opportunities for survivors and women at risk of human trafficking. We also support artisan empowerment through partnerships with organizations like Nest Ethically Handcrafted and Article 22, a jewelry line that employs Vietnamese artisans turning bombshell fragments into fashionable accessories.
